Do you even lights bro?

Okay, so lately I've often been charmed by late night city lights. It's probably because of this video (watch with headphones and you might be taken away):

Last night I took some pictures in Tallinn when I was walking home from the cinema. I guess I was still in that Füll HD 3D high quality zone from watching Star Wars. Anyway, there were many nice scenes around the old town, so I thought I'd share that Christmas spirit with anyone who wants to have some more Christmas spirit by making a mini-blogpost with some photos I made. My phone is still just a phone though, so the quality is slightly lacking sometimes.

WHAT. THE. FUCK.: Started from the Middle (ENG)

Okay guys. I've promised and promised to do it, but I haven't got around to it in such a long time. Here it is, a blog post in English. As I've mentioned to many, writing in Estonian is just so much easier. My mind jumps around faster and I'm able to describe my thoughts and feelings in a more colorful way.

At first I thought I'd make this just a translation of my recent post in Estonian, but I believe many of my international friends are still not quite getting what the hell is Füll HD.

Füll HD started around February, when I was talking to my high school friend Henri about music again. It had been quite a while since had previously sent me his stuff, but at that point he had been producing electronic music on his mom's laptop for around four years. Ever since he had been into that, he had been sending me his samples.

In the beginning I was not really enthusiastic about his stuff, but now, last February, I told him that some of his stuff is really good. You know, it sounded like the real thing. As we hadn't talked about music for quite a while, he now sent me a lot of his stuff. Enough to put together a playlist on my phone. I got so into it, that for a couple of days I would write messages to him throughout the day saying stuff like "in that track the beginning is really nice, but I don't like that particular sound during the drop" or "man, that track came on while I was running just now and it was so good!!".

This kept on going for a week or two until one day he just unexpectedly asked me if I'd like to join with him in this music thing.
H: "Hey I was thinking, maybe you could join me and we do this together"
D: "Uhm, yeah, but what would I do?"
H: "I don't know, jump around on the stage with me and tell the crowd to make some noise or something. I mean we'd have more courage together on stage as well."

And I don't remember how I answered at that moment. The next thing I do remember is getting hooked by one of his tracks and getting the idea of making lyrics for it. I got so hooked to the track, because just thinking about the lyrics gave me some ownership to it and made me feel more personally related to it. Thus, I was biased to think that the track is way better than it actually was and now we've left it somewhere in storage. However, I did write lyrics to a part of the track one Saturday just before I got to work. The Sunday after that I sent a video to Henri where I read out the lyrics while the song was playing. Sort of like a performance so Henri could see how I actually mean for the words to be in the song. It's one of the most stupid looking things you could ever see and Henri was laughing his ass off. And me with him... BUT, although I think I had explicitly agreed to joining Henri already before, now I really felt like a part of something.

Well, then we got things rolling. He kept making tracks and sending me his stuff. He also used his skills to make really stupid remixes of stuff. We kept talking about crazy possible progressions to our duo's career. And so on. We talked about performing and the stuff performers do live to get the crowd going. All of this included a lot of banter (Google: "the playful and friendly exchange of teasing remarks"), which also made us closer as friends.

Since then we've come up with our name: Füll HD. At first we had all sorts of ideas, that were funny for ourselves, but I don't feel like they'd be funny here. But then we got the idea of Full HD. Both our names represented, it resembles high quality and it was already something people say a lot. Still is. However, Henri suggested that it sounds a bit too oss. That word, oss, is a slang term we use in Estonia for the people who wear sports gear all the time, listen to their weird sort of techno and drive old tuned BMW's. More broadly, oss can also be a teasing remark you could "playfully exchange" with your friends who listen to EDM. That's what Full HD sounded like to Henri.

3x oss

H: "So what about putting some dots on that U and making it into Füll HD? Would have a little bit of that modern, nordic, Estonian touch to it."
D: "Damn, hell yeah. Let's do it."

When I got to Estonia in July to enjoy my summer break, we started our Facebook page and our Soundcloud. We went to take professional-looking photos with our friend Gregor. We booked a place to organize a party. On the 19th of August, we had a party with around 140 people to celebrate our birthdays (mine at the end of July, his on 20th of August) and to hold the 1st live of Füll HD.

It was a good party, but it wasn't that great of a performance from us. We lacked preparation a lot. 10 days before the party, we went to 3-day festival in Estonia. We could've used the remaining 7 days to prepare a better show together, but instead I went to a week-long festival in Hungary (awesome too). Thus, at the party, we played music, we had a CO2 gun and I yelled to the mic a couple of times more towards the beginning, but didn't really engage the crowd too much. Overall, great experience and so much insight to how much different smaller and bigger things require attention when organizing a party and when performing.

I came back to the Netherlands for my final year in university and Henri started a new study in Estonia. Füll HD continued with new enthusiasm mainly through Facebook. We uploaded some stuff on our Soundcloud, started working on new music with vocals and we're also aiming to make a music video once we do get vocals. We generally kept trying to figure out our next performance, but didn't get to anything specific yet. Until...

Wait. Before the real story starts, you have to know what Cartoon is. Cartoon is a fresh DnB trio from Estonia. Right now, they're growing faster on YouTube than any other Estonian music act has before. They also just bagged the Best Newcomer Producer award of the Drum&BassArena Awards 2015. One of their tracks here:

*Facebook chat with friends from high school*

Heinz(Henri): "Guys, 27th of November, there's going to be the greatest party ever! Cartoon is performing! I got to the organizing team, like & share etc."
Tom: "Couldn't you guys perform there? That'd be sick"
Heinz: "Perform... I don't know... Have to check it out. I got there through uni"

*Our separate chat with Henri*

Dan: "Hey but... for real. Could we perform there?"
Heinz: "My brother said that it should actually be possible... Before Cartoon. :D But he has to ask."
Dan: "Like exactly before? :D"
Heinz: "Well that would be absolutely fucking crazy. Would you come home then?"
Dan: "Well if we get that gig, then you can be 150% sure I'll come home!"
Heinz: "Damn if we can get there, then we'll have no started-from-the-bottom bullshit in our autobiograhy"

:D :D :D

*Facebook chat with the high school friends a couple of days later*

Heinz: "Guys, I have a sick ANNOUNCEMENT four you tomorrow"
Andreas: "Why tomorrow, do it now!"
Tom: "You like Karl? You won Euro Lottery and you're going to give all of us 20 million?"
Karl: "Damn, them options..."

*Our separate chat with Heinz at the same time*

Dan: "NO, for real?"
Heinz: "Wait until tomorrow..."
Dan: "..."
Heinz: "I'm just teasing WE'RE GOING TO PERFORM AT THE SAME PARTY WITH CARTOON"
Dan: "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO FUCKING WAY, WHAT NO, FOR REAL?"
Heinz: "Don't tell anyone"
Dan: "Holy f**k. I won't. To hell with getting any sleep now"

(had the last exam of the most recent exam period on the next day)

As the first thing I went to the next room and told Kristjan. He responded with a similar "NOOOOOO FUCKING WAY" as the one I had silently yelled to myself in my room moments before. I couldn't, I had to share the news with someone right away.
"But don't tell anyone else, okay?"
That night I stayed up until around 3AM just staring at the ceiling. My heart was pounding. My thoughts and emotions were all over the place. At one moment I was holding my head from joy, the next moment I'd be holding my head and thinking "Why, for Christ's sake, why?! I'm not ready for this type of stuff, am I?"

How did we even get there? Henri's brother Martin asked two organizers, Maris and Elari, if us performing at their party would even be thinkable. Then the three of them sat down and listened to Füll HD's soundcloud. As we understood it, that's all they needed.

But I was so nervous out of my mind, that I didn't really dare to tell anyone about this. Not to the friends here in the Netherlands nor to the ones in Estonia (just a handful of them knew). Otherwise, really. Me performing in front of a crowd like that? Of course, when Heinz asked me to join him in the first place, I always imagined myself as Avicii, Garrix or even Jozels (one of the guys in Cartoon) on stage, but when I got this chance now... I didn't really know what to do with myself.

Nevertheless, I did. I put on my earphones and got into it. I started to get myself going in the evenings, I was performing a show to myself in my own room. I was listening to tracks and generating ideas about what I could do on stage during specific tracks. I could imagine the crowd dancing, singing along, jumping and moving back and forth. Me and Heinz were the show. The best. The favorite ones. We were Füll HD.

***

Suddenly, time had passed to the Monday before Friday, 27th of November. I finished work on Schiermonnikoog and saw that Heinz had written to me:
"Let me know when you're here. As soon as possible."
Those messages never mean anything good. The Skype call was on. Well, Heinz had just been practicing with DJ-equipment and said that he's not feeling quite sure enough about it yet. That maybe we should get Frank (DJ FRNK) to join in. I agreed. We were even stressing a bit about if FRNK will agree with it. You know, performing under the name Füll HD and all that.
"Pfft, of course I'll do it!"
Damn, Frank's the fucking man. If you need to get something done, then you need to get something done.

Then we were not sure, if the organizer Elari would be fine with us taking Frank with us. We wrote him a slightly longer piece of text about how we're not a 100% certain of ourselves and if it would be okay if Frank would join - a guy with lots of experience after all and that we want to offer high quality to match the hype of the party. And so on.
"Yeah okay. But how many fans will there be coming with you?"

:D :D :D

We didn't know how to respond to that right away. We were worried about taking an extra person with us, but Elari seemed to perceive us as an act that will bring the crowd. Obviously, it also felt good when someone believed in us. Our description under the event (WOW):

"On this autumn's Sunday we have our first SURPRISE for you! We will give the chanve for two young EDM producers/DJs to get their first stage experience.

These are Karl Henri and Dan i.e. the dynamic duo Füll HD! You can keep yourself updated with their activities on their fanpage: https://www.facebook.com/fullheinzdan/

And listening to their first recordings we are predicting great success for them! Listen here: https://soundcloud.com/fullheinzdan"

The Tuesday before the party I was home in Groningen and basically spent the whole day watching videos about the lives and the liveshows of different DJs (especially Garrix). Yeah, it got me going alright. With Henri we also put together a playlist of the tracks we wanted to play. I put it on my phone and in the late evening of that Tuesday I started my journey towards Estonia. I paid a quick visit to Nils and then set myself to go on the 01:55AM bus to Bremen, with the playlist Füll HD Cartoon playing on my earphones.

I was sleeping the whole two-hour trip from Groningen to Bremen. In Bremen I traveled to the airport and spent another two hours sleeping on the bench of some coffee place. 10:45 in the morning I flew to Riga. From Riga I took the bus straight to Tallinn. By that time, I had figured out a 25-minute show that we could do at the end of our set. During that 5-hour bus trip from Riga to Tallinn I practiced those 25-minutes in my head at least for three times. I could also watch movies on the bus, so I decided to watch The Wolf of Wall Street. Practicing the show and watching that movie got me so pumped up that I felt like I could go on stage at the party right away and then go straight to perform at Tomorrowland. Or something. However, I had just got to Estonia so I spent the evening quietly with my family.

***

Thursday. After getting my morning activites done (met up with mom and visited my high school), it was time for us to get to one youth center in Tallinn, where we could practice with some DJ-equipment. FRNK had promised the previous evening, that he'd come along so I gave him a call:
"Hey man, where are you? I'll be heading to the place from the center, are you going to come with me?"
"Hey... Yeah... Listen, I'm pretty hungover right now. I just woke up at someone's place. You know the Räägu burger joint? Yeah, around here somewhere. I think I won't make it today..."
"Hmm, yeah. I don't want to pressure you or anything, but you could take two buses from there and still make it."
"Well, I'd like to go through my place still and take a shower etc."
"Where do you live?"
"Kalamaja... Yeah, I could come from there with the train. I don't know, I'll slowly get on the move and see."
"Alright, great. I'll give you a call in a bit."

Me and Henri went on the bus and when we got off near the youth center, I called Frank again:
"Yo, where are you?"
"Hey man, I still won't make it today."
"Damn Frank, we need you man! No, okay, okay. Can you come tomorrow? We have a time slot reserved for tomorrow too and we'd just need to get the harder transitions in place for the show part."
"Let's go on stage naked and you have your show right there."

:D :D :D

We were getting really nervous and this guy didn't seem to give two fucks about preparing. He still agreed to joining us the next day. This wasn't the end of our struggles for that day though, because the guy responsible for the practice sessions in the youth center didn't show up on time and we weren't allowed to the room on our own either. For half an hour we played pool or table tennis and had a chat with the workers at the center. At one point they still decided to let us in the room on our own.

Füll H

Well, we got a total of 1,5 hours of practice that day, and felt pretty good about ourselves afterwards. Heinz really got himself going, so aftwerwards he took out his laptop in the bus and kept on practicing with Virtual DJ. We were going Füll oss right there with the two of us taking four seats and music playing loud enough from our headphones for the whole bus to hear. We went straight to a friend's place for a poker night.

I didn't play along, because I tried to watch more videos from YouTube to get some inspiration for our show. It didn't really work out, because I also wanted to catch up with my bros who I hadn't seen since the summer. We asked them to make as much noise as possible the next evening in front of stage, but they obviously promised that they'd boo us out and loudly ask questions like "Will there be any good music as well?" in front of stage.

It was funny, but when Andreas dropped me off at my place 2AM, then I felt that what we have prepared so far for the show won't be enough. I felt insecure. When I left his car, I walked to my door and already had the key inside the lock, but then... No, this wasn't enough. Keys back to the pocket, I put my earphones on and headed to the Old Town from my place. We have this beautiful viewing spots there, where you can get a look over different parts of the city. I went to one of them, threw my backpack on one of the benches and looked at my hometown shining in its lights. 30 minutes of tracks and 30 minutes of show. Let's do this. There, alone, I let music take me away. Hands up. Sing along. Jump. Move left. Move right. Fucking hell, I performed a greater show to sleeping Tallinn, than it had seen since Robbie Williams visited us three years ago. I wrote Heinz right away and told him that we definitely have to use the first half of an hour next day to practice the show and make it match with the music. He was still awake, because he couldn't sleep that night. When I got home 3:30AM that night, I fell asleep instantly.

FRIDAY. This is it. I had one piece of bread with cheese in the morning and then headed to the center to meet up with Henri. We got on our way to the place where we could practice with the decks again and this time everything went smoothly. Got in on time and Frank was present as well. I gave Henri and Frank the tracks I wanted for the show part and told them the order to play them in.
Dan: "Alright, let's have a show"
*Dan pulls off a show*
Henri: "Yeah I don't know... The crowd might not come along."
Dan: "Yeah that's true. But we can't hope for that from the first proper gig anyway. If we give it everything ourselves and believe in it, then the rest is up for the crowd to decide. To come along or not. What do you think, Frank? Is it too ridiculous?"
Frank: "Nah I think anything is allowed on stage."

:D

Well, okay then. Frank was with us for an hour and then left; we stayed to practice for another hour and then headed back to the center again. And from there to the Red Hall in Telliskivi, which is where the party took place. We had to do a soundcheck before 6PM (professional shit). Frank joined us again.

OKAY. The place was full of all sorts of stuff, the speakers had really loud (but awesome quality) techno sort of music playing. Around 10 people were hassling around and getting stuff done.
"Hello boys! Oh, you came to help as well, right? We'll find you guys something to do right away!"
"Hmm, yeah, no, we came for the soundcheck. We're performing today... Füll HD."
"Oh, I'm so sorry! My name is Maris."
"No-no, it's okay, no problem. Hello, Henri, Dan, Frank."
"Really, my bad. I apologize... But yeah, the sound guy is over there, you have to talk to him."
So weird! Like what, no need to apologize in front of us. Anyway, we went to the sound guy who said that he needs some more time and will first get "these two small subwoofers out of the way".
Frank: "Small subwoofers, yeah... At another party in Patarei (an old prison building in Tallinn) we only had those two small subwoofers. And then see those smaller speakers on the sides? Yeah, and those. And that was the party."
Yeap. There was a shit load of equipment. Responsibility. Another guy walked by who had previously been playing with the lights and he looked awfully familiar. He nodded to me for recognition and I nodded back, although I wasn't completely sure who he was. "SANDER!", someone yelled over the whole place and I realized right away. Sander was a summer camp teacher for us a long time ago. He was the cool teacher who let us sneak out of our window during the night and go around the camp site (afterwards he helped us back in as well, because the window was too high for us kids to climb back inside :D). I went to talk to him right away and asked about the lights.
"So is it possible to ask for some specific effects during some specific tracks?"
"Yeah, for sure."
"I can see the strobe lights up there behind the booth. Is it also possible that only the four of them are flashing at some point?"
"Sure. But all the lights have the strobe. Have a look."
"Oh, nice! But if all the lights with the colors also flash at the same time, then the regular strobe effect is not that big. Can you just flash the regular, white strobelight for a moment?"
"Like this?"
"Yeah, perfect! If we get to do the soundcheck, then I'll let you know the track where we'd like to have that effect only."

Hahaha, Füll HD came to ask for shit! It was cool. The main organizer Elari and sound man Ivan told us, that they need a little bit of more time, so we decided to do a quick trip to the store, because we hadn't really had any food the whole day. Just before we started to step out of the place, Ivan asked:
"Hey, you're not playing MP3 files right?"
"We don't know anything about that..."
"Ah, good that you don't know anything about them!"
"No, like yeah, we have MP3s. We really had a hassle to get all of them in high quality... Is it really bad?"
"Can't you really get WAV files?! Look, imagine you have a really beautiful painting. MP3 is like taking a picture of that painting with your phone and then looking at the amazing painting from your phone."

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck. Confidence gone. We walked to the store with Henri and were thinking about what the hell should we do now. Maybe we can still get the WAVs somehow. I opened Google and started reading on the way. Obviously, we couldn't just convert our files to higher quality. It was actually really interesting to read about WAV files, it's just that, yeah, we didn't have time to get them anymore. We didn't feel so professional anymore, but what do you do, right? We got some food and went back to the Red Hall. Frank left, because he wanted to go to his basketball practice before the party ("Please don't brake your arm, okay?").

When back at the place, I went to Sander and asked him about playing MP3 files.
"Oh yeah, no, that's alright. Of course, Ivan will feel uncomfortable, but man, at a party like this... the crowd won't give a shit."
Thank you! A sigh of relief and we were back in the zone. We finally got on the stage to do our soundcheck as well. Henri started mixing right away and I asked Ivan about the microphones. He set them up in a minute. One-one, two-two, the sound was really good. Clear. I told that to Ivan as well. He seemed pleased. I told Henri that I'm going to walk around the place and try hearing my own voice from different locations around the room. Earlier we also met with Henri's supernice coursemates who were helping with organizing the party, so I had some shoutouts for them through the mic:
"SERGEI PUT YOUR HANDS UP!"
Yeah, it was all good. Really good. Henri really got himself going with mixing as well and we were as ready as we could be.

Before we started to head off for a brief stop at my place, we got a final boost of confidence from Maris and another team member, Annika.
Maris: "So, everything worked alright?"
HD: "Yeah, everything's great! What time should we be back?"
Maris: "Well, 22:30 we open the doors as you already you know I guess. Just orientate yourselves around that. What now, having some rest before the evening?"
HD: "Yeah, going to have a quick powernap or something."
Annika: "No-no, some beauty sleep. ;)"
Haaaaah, we walked out with wide smiles all over our faces.

***

Last moments. We were at my place and Henri already started practicing with VirtualDJ again. I just lay down, talked to my stepmom and listened to the tracks we wanted to play. Before we left, I quickly made little pieces of paper with Füll HD written on them so I could throw them to the crowd.

Next we had a quick stop at the bar to have a moment with the guys and then Andreas dropped us off to the place with his car. And soon enough, the time was 22:30. In the beginning we were told that we'll be playing from 23:00-00:40, so Frank played his own music in the beginning. At 23:00, there was almost noone there so we kept on waiting. At 23:15, we decided that, whatever, we'll just get on stage. There was still just around 50 people present, but that was nice, because most of them were our friends, so I could call them by name from the mic and have them put hands up or something like that. I looked at all those people and a smirk came to my face. I felt good. What is there to be afraid of anyway? Let's go crazy!

cheeky smirk

And that's how it went. The people were just coming and coming. At some point I got on the table and jumped around; also had the crowd make some noise, but in the beginning we were rather playing for the general vibe. And drinking a lot of Red Bull. They had a little fridge for those on the left side of the table and we had like 10 of them throughout the whole thing.

this is some good Red Bull, mate

At some point when Henri and me were playing, Frank didn't have anything to do, so he read news from his phone and sent snaps around on snapchat. Generally, it was just awesome - the lights were great and we had SIX fucking CO2 cannons in front of stage!! :O

What uuuuuup?!
(you can also see Frank's white iPhone next to his hand on the right)

We also kept track of the time, because we knew we were supposed to play until 00:40 and we had to time the show part to the last bits of the set. Before that I was rather holding myself back. But we hadn't seen MHKL (who was supposed to play right after us) a single time, and the guys from Cartoon neither. That's why we didn't really know if we have to go off at 00:40 or if we can go on for longer. At one point I saw Ivan next to the stage and asked him if he can search for MHKL for a moment. He was back in a minute and nodded: "MHKL is coming on at 00:40."

There were now so many people at the place that I wouldn't be able give any accurate estimates of the crowd's size anymore. 200? 300? More? Less? First, it was dark and the lights from the stage only revealed us the people standing close to the stage, but not the ones standing at the back. Second, the stage wasn't in the middle of one end of the hall, but more like in a corner. Thus, looking from the stage, we couldn't see what's going on at the left side of the hall. But there were people. A lot. And we were feeling good. Let's do this. The first track of our show part: Axwell /\ Ingrosso - This time.

I got on the table. My heart was pounding. I was ready for the part that starts on the 17th second. Practiced this in my head so many times. I was waiting, almost there. For the last time the lyrics went "...this time we can't go home...". And then:
"STUDEEEEEEEEEEENTS!"
I jumped from the table to in front of the DJ-booth.
"Füll HD has around 20 minutes left to get you guys warmed up for Cartoon. If you guys are with us, make some nooooooooise!"
*friends making noise in front of the stage*
"We'll start with the fingers. Start from below."
I held my hand low in front of me and moved my fingers along with the build up of the track. The more tense the track got the higher I moved my hand. And then right before the drop:
"1, 2, 3, LETS GO!"
FUCK. THIS. SHIT. That moment. I was so focused and completely gone at the same time. The music. The adrenaline. The cosmic feeling of enjoyment. AAAH. Finally, I enjoyed being on stage one hundred percent. 150% even. All the emotions connected to Füll HD just flooded my head at that point. The fact that we were just performing for the second time. That neither of us hadn't really dealt with performing in our lives. That our anxiety levels had gone between no anxiety and extreme anxiety daily throughout the 3 weeks before the party. The way we had prepared ourselves. I could keep on describing this, but that feeling is indescribable. This time we can't go home!

And that's how it went. From there on we tried to have the crowd sing a long, clap along, even tried to have them take out their flashlights. Maybe 8 people did that at most. You know, not even all of our friends. Still, better than 0. I didn't care. I was giving my everything. It was so Füll HD as it could get. Until one point Henri told me that we have one track left to play.
Henri: "Sandstorm."
Dan: "Dude, we haven't played our own track yet."
Henri: "No let's do Sandstorm, people dig that for sure."
Frank: "Yeah, definitely Sandstorm."
Okay, two against one. We got Darude's Sandstorm going, Henri went to jump on one side of the stage and I went to the other side. It was fucking epic. At the middle of the track, MHKL appeared to the side of the stage. I greeted him right away:
"Hi, Dan."
"Mihkel."
"Are you coming with the next track or can we play another one?"
"Uhm, yeah, you can play another one."
Hah, there we go. I told the guys we can have another one. Thus, Füll HD - What You Got. Fuck, that was cool. People dancing to our music. After the first drop I told the crowd that it's our last song and then MHKL will take over.
"Make some noise for Mihkel!"
It is what it is, you got what you got!
Mihkel smirked. The crowd was making noise. Heinz, Frank and me crouched on the stage and the photographer Andrei took a picture of us with the crowd.

THANK YOU!

Oh jesus. Then the pressure dropped. Our friends came to greet us next to the stage.
Andreas: "THAT WAS FUCKING EPIC!"
Sergei: "Awesome, guys, awesome!"
Jaanika: "Come here you two I want to hug you!"
Sandra: "You did so well!"
Haha, sooooooooooooooooooooo nice. Actually we had more people there (I didn't forget them!!), but I could remember these specific words slightly better. There was just too much to remember anyway.
Henri: "What the hell did we just do?"
Dan: "I don't know, man."

And Henri. Remember how he called me on Monday saying that he's not feeling fully sure about himself? He didn't make any mistakes while mixing. 0. Perfect. Even Frank had some small hiccups. I was so glad for Henri. And for us.

DJ FRNK x Füll HD

"What are ya mixing here? :)"

clap your haaaaaands

And then we partied. We got beers from the backstage and started going around to talk to friends or generally whoever was up for talking to us. We were still sweaty as fuck, but extremely satisfied.

Squaaaaaaaad

Henri's brother Martin without whom we wouldn't have been there

Of course, we couldn't just not use the chance to talk to the guys from Cartoon. Great lads in every way - very open, very friendly. Told us a little bit about what they're up to and some funny stories from the gigs they've had so far.
Henri: "Hey let's go take a picture with them as well, right?"
Dan: "Yeah, I mean I'd really like to but... I don't know. Don't want to be a fanboy either."
*Henri taps one of the guys, Joselz, on his shoulder*
Henri: "Hey let's take a picture together as well."
Joosep: "Yeah of course man. Hugo, Ago, come here, let's take a picture!"
Henri: "Andrei, please come take a picture of us!"

Füll HD Cartoon

You have to be a fanboy a little bit, right? Soon those guys went on stage and we went in front of it to go crazy. I got home 6:20 in the morning. Study Hard Party Harder was problably the party of my life. The limits we pushed for ourselves... Damn. You know, you always think about how great it would be rocking the crowd on stage, but - I guess like for many people - usually when I have to perform something in front of other people I get nervous. But I've just put myself more and more to these situations to get better in dealing with it. In university you have to give presentations anyway. Since my second year in university I've taught students from previous years. In the summer me and Henri organized a party where we performed ourselves. And now we took a massive step further for ourselves. 200-300 people (well, there was a total of 600 people at the party) might not be that much for the real players in the industry, but for us... Just what the fuck man?

Thank you. To all our friends who encouraged us to ask and who came to show their support. Thank you, Martin, for putting in a word for us. Thank you Elari and Maris for giving the opportunity. Thank you, Frank, for coming along with us. Thank you DJ-club Ravecast for the chance to practice. Thank you, Andrei, for the photos. Thank you, Sander, for the lights. Thank you, Ivan, for the sound. Thank you, if you were there and partied with us. Until next time!

WHAT. THE. FUCK.: Started from the Middle

*Facebooki chat klassivendadega gümnaasiumist*

Heinz: "Kutid, 27 november toimub greatest party evaaaaar! Loomelinnakus, Cartoon laval. Sain korraldustiimi, laikige jne.!!"
Tom: "Esineda ei saa seal? See oleks eos ju"
Heinz: "Esineda... ei teagi... Peab uurima. Kooli kaudu sain sinna."

*Chat eraldi Heinziga*

Dan: "Kuule aga... päriselt rääkides. Kas saaks sinna esinema?"
Heinz: "Mu vend ütles, et tegelikult oleks võimalik... Enne Cartooni. :D Aga ta peab küsima."
Dan: "Nagu täpselt enne? :D"
Heinz: "No see oleks maxkõva.

:D :D :D

*Facebooki chat klassivendadega gümnaasiumist mõned päevad hiljem*

Heinz: "Kutid, mul on homme haige ANNOUNCEMENT"
Andreas: "Why homme, küta kohe!"
Tom: "Sulle meeldib Saare? Sa võitsid euro loto ja annad meile kõigile 20 milli?"
Saare: "Tra mis valikud"

*Chat eraldi samal ajal Heinziga*

Dan: "EI, ausalt?"
Heinz: "Oota homseni..."
Dan: "..."
Heinz: "Ma ainult õrritan ME ESINEME CARTOONIGA SAMAL PEOL"
Dan: "HUIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII, EI MISASJA PÄRISELT"
Heinz: "Ära kellelegi räägi"
Dan: "Ossa p**s. Ei räägi. Ma päris jäängi nüüd magama ju"

(mul oli järgmisel päeval sügisese eksamiperioodi viimane eksam)

Esimese asjana läksin kõrvaltuppa ja rääkisin Kristjanile. Sealt tuli samasugune "HUIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII" nagu olin just hetked varem enda toas endale hääletult karjunud.

Kuidas me üldsegi saime sinna?

Mina ja Heinz olimegi show. Parimad. Lemmikud. FÜLL HD.

***

"Pff, muidugi davai!"
Krt see Frank on ikka lemmikvend.

:D :D :D

Me ei osanud kohe midagi öelda.

"...on oodata ainult suurt tähelendu"

10:45 hommikul lendasin suunal Bremen-Riia (Ryanair Füll HD private jet jne.). Riias läksin lennujaamast otse Lux Expressi bussile Tallinnasse.

"Tsau, kuule kus oled? Hakkan kohe linnast Nõmme poole sõitma, kas tuled koos minuga?"
"Tsau... Kuule... Ma olen suht pohmas. Ärkasin just kuskil kellegi juures siin Räägus. Räägu burksi lähedal, tead küll. Ma vist ei jõua täna..."
"Hmm, jaa.
"Davai, super. Ma helistan mõne aja pärast."

Olime Heinziga juba bussis kokku saanud ja kõndisime nüüd pärast bussilt mahatulemist noortekeskuse poole. Helistasin Frankile uuesti:
"No kus oled omadega?"
"Kuule ma ikka ei jõua täna jah."
"Krt Frank, meil on vaja sind mees! Ei, olgu, olgu. Homme saad tulla? Meil on homseks ka aeg ning meil oleks show osas vaja lihtsalt need raskemad üleminekud korda saada."
"No lähme paljalt lavale ja ongi show."

:D :D :D

Suundusime linnast otse Raini juurde, kus toimus nende samade Facebooki chati gümnaasiumi klassivendadega pokkeriõhtu.

Seal üksi lasin lihtsalt muusikal ennast haarata. Käed üles. Laulge kaasa. Hüpake. Liikuge vasakule. Liikuge paremale. No mine metsa, tegin üksinda magavale Tallinnale hullema show, kui kõik muu, mida Vana Toomas on 1944. aasta märtsist saadik näinud.

REEDE. This is it.
On liiga debiilne?"
Frank: "Ei minu arust võib laval kõike teha nagu."

:D :D :D

Sihtkohaks Telliskivi Punane Saal, sest enne 18t pidime tegema soundchecki (professional shit). Frank taasliitus meiega.

NORM. Saalis oli igasugu kraami laiali, kõlaritest mängis väga valjult (aga ülihea kvaliteediga) midagi techno sarnast ning kuskil kümme inimest askeldas saalis ringi.
"Tere poisid! Oh, te tulite ka appi jah. Kohe leiame teile midagi teha!"
"Mm jaa, eino me tulime soundchecki. Me esineme täna... Füll HD."
"Aaa, oi palun vabandust! Mina olen Maris."
"Ei-ei! Pole üldse hullu! Tere, Heinz, Dan, Frank."
"Tõesti jah, vabandust... Helimees on seal, temaga peate siis rääkima."
Nii veider. No selles mõttes misasja, meie ees pole küll vaja vabandada.
"Kas me saame siis sinuga soovi korral mingite kindlate lugude ajal mingeid kindlaid valgusefekte kokku leppida?"
"Jaa ikka saab."
"Ikka. Aga kõikidel tuledel on see stroboeffekt olemas muidu. Näe vaata."
"Aaa, naiss.
"Jaa, super! Kui me soundchecki saame, siis ma ütlen sulle, mis loo ajal just nii võiks lasta."

lamp tehnika

Just enne uksest välja astumist küsis Ivan möödudes:
"Kuulge ega te MP3-faile ei mängi onju?"
"Me ei tea sellest midagi..."
"Aa, väga hea et ei nendest midagi!"
"Ei nagu, meil on MP3-failid jah. Me veel nägime vaeva, et kõrge kvaliteediga MP3-failid saada... On see väga hull?"
"WAV faile tõesti ei saa?! No vaata, kujuta ette, et sul on hästi ilus maal.

Traaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. Sinna see enesekindlus läks.

No Ivanil on muidugi ebamugav, aga sellisel peol mees... rahval on jumala savi."

Millal me tagasi peaks olema?"

Mida siin ikka karta on? Paneme hullu!

kõik moosi varastan ära

Ja nii ta läks. Rahvast aina kogunes.

Wadaaaaaaaap!

Seega me päris ei teadnud, kas me ikka peame 00:40 maha minema või saame kauem lasta.

Davai. Meie show osa esimene lugu: Axwell Λ Ingrosso - This Time.

Ronisin laua peale. Süda tagus täiega. Olin valmis selleks kerimiseks, mis hakkab 17. sekundil. Ootasin, kohe tuleb. Veel viimast korda tuli laulus "...this time we can't go home...'' Ja siis:
"TUDENGIIIIIID!"
Hüppasin laua pealt DJ-puldi ette lavale.
"Füll HD-l on jäänud veel paarkümmend minutit, et teid Cartooni jaoks korralikult soojaks saada. Kui te olete meiega, siis tehke häält!"
*sõbrad lava eest teevad häält*
"Alustame sõrmedest, tule alt."
Panin käe enda ette madalale ja liigutasin laulu kerimise saatel sõrmi. Mida enam loos pinge keris, seda kõrgemale kätt tõstsin. Ja täpselt enne dropi:
"1, 2, 3 LET'S GO!"
MINE. PERSE. See hetk. See muusika. See adrenaliin. See ulmeline kaiff. AAAAAH. Lõpuks ometi ma nautisin seda lavalolekut 100%. Isegi 150%! Kõik Füll HD-ga seotud tunded lihtsalt tulvasid sel hetkel mu pähe. See, et me olime alles teist korda esinemas. See, kuidas me olime ennast ette valmistanud. Kirjeldama võiks jäädagi, aga see tunne on kirjeldamatu. This time we can't go home!

Ja nii ta läks. Edasi üritasime rahval lasta kaasa laulda, lasta kaasa plaksutada, proovisin isegi lasta neil taskulambid välja võtta, aga kõige paremal hetkel võttis neid välja ainult mingi 8 inimest. Parem kui 0. Mul oli savi. Andsin endast kõik. Me andsime.
Heinz: "Davai, Sandstorm."
Dan: "Mees, me pole enda lugu mänginud."
Heinz: "Ei teeme kindlalt Sandstormi, see läheb rahvale täiega peale."
Frank: "Jaa kindlalt Sandstorm."
No olgu, kaks ühe vastu. Tõmbasime Sandstormi käima. Heinz läks ühele poole laua peale hüppama ja ma teisele. Kõva oli, loog mees. Poole loo peal tuli lava kõrvalt MHKL. Viskasin kohe käppa.
"Tere, Dan."
"Mihkel."
Hah, olemas. Ütlesin, kuttidele, et saame ühe veel. Ehk Füll HD - What You Got.
I don't even care, you got what you got!
Mihkel muigas. Rahvas tegi häält. Meie kükitasime Heinzi ja Frankiga lava ette ja Andrei (fotograaf) tegi meist rahvaga pilti.

AITÄH KÕIGILE!

Oijah. Ja siis tuli pingelangus. Sõbrad kogunesid lava äärde meid vastu võtma.
Andu: "TRA SEE OLI EPIC!"
Sergei: "Väga kõva kutid!"
Jansa: "No tulge siia ma tahan teid kallistada!"
Sandra: "Nii tublid olete!"
Haha, mineeeeeeeee.
Heinz: "Misasja me just tegime?"

0. Idekas. Isegi Frankil oli paar väikest ebakindlat kohta. Mul oli Henri üle super hea meel. Ja meie üle.

DJ FRNK x Füll HD

"Mis mixid siin :)"

clap your haaaaaands

Heinzi vend Martin ilma kelleta me poleks sinna jõudnud!
